This weekend it was time for round 2 of the very popular indoor series MRC Cup. This is the biggest on-road indoor track in the Netherlands and uses the very famous ETS carpet. Also this time there were over 50 entries in 4 classes.
The MRC club must lay down every time the track in the sports hall. But with the help of the club members and the other drivers, it only takes 30 minutes and the track is ready.
There are 2 qualification rounds (best one counted) and 3 finals (best 2 counted).
In the Touring Stock 17.5 class everything could happen. Some top dogs couldnâ™t come this weekend so everything was wide open. After 2 qualifications it was Rob Janssen who had TQ, Eric Bresser (XRAY) second and Jan Kraanen (XRAY) third. In the finals there were many fights, some better than other. But after three finals Rob Janssen finished first, Eric Bresser second and Fred van Voorst (XRAY) third.
In the Formula class some drivers struggled with grip problems. The new Ride tires (XR) give a lot of grip on the carpet. After the two qualifications it was Jitse Miedema (XRAY) on the top spot, Wesley van Dijken (XRAY) second and Martijn van der Heijden (XRAY) third.
There were nice battles, but also some contact between cars which was not necessary. After the three finals it was Jitse on 1, Wesley second and Martijn third.
